DFx: (Design For x). A series of tools designed to create products that cost less to manufacture, are 'right first time', and provide ease of serviceability down the road. Our research shows that often products are designed using using only a portion of a company's organizational resources. In fact, sometimes design teams create products that can only be produced in the lab. When these products move to production, margins are lost due to higher than expected yield losses, or long complicated manufacturing processes.

By combining the design philosophies of Design For Manufacture, Assembly, Test, Serviceability, and Six Sigma, the Allegro team can teach your team the design principles required by today's markets. As powerful as these tools are, however, they are best used in a collaborative fashion. If only one function is using DFx, then other key ideas are being left out and the true benefits will not be achieved. To insure success, we recommend teaching the IPD (Integrated Product Development) approach along with the DFx tools. This teaches the attendees the framework as well as the application of the tools so they can be effective from the start.

Allegro's instructors have actually designed products. From aircraft engines, to automotive, to electronics, you will be instructed and coached by an engineer that has actually succeeded with these tools. We prefer to teach these tools using our Fast Forward approach, a blending of instruction and Kaizen, to insure the program truly is a cross functional, collaborative effort.
